ちぢみを織る 近江 − 滋賀
steteco.comの商品は、ステテコ本来の心地よさをお届けするため、高温多湿な気候に適した日本の伝統素材「綿ちぢみ」の生地を使用しています。糸から生地を織り上げる作業は、滋賀県高島市に点在する工場で工程別に行い、熟練の職人たちの厳しい目で管理しています。
Weaving Chijimi − Shiga
Steteco.com offers the natural comfort of steteco using cotton chijimi, a traditional Japanese textile which is perfect for a humid climate. Factories spread around Takashima, Shiga, operate their respective processes of weaving yarns into a textile, under the watchful eyes of skilled craftspeople.
A：撚りムラの少ないリング撚糸機で緯糸（よこいと）に1m当たり1200回程の強い撚りを加えます。
The weft is formed into a powerful ply with 1,200 twists per meter on a ring twisting frame with a high level of evenness.
B：専門の工場で4000本以上の経糸（たていと）を均一に引き揃え、糊付けします。
Over 4,000 rolls of warp are evenly aligned and starched at a special factory.
C：糊付けされた経糸と撚糸された緯糸を製織機にかけ、丁寧に織り上げます。
The starched warp and the twisted weft are placed on a loom to be carefully woven together.
D：何十年にもわたってお取組みさせていただいている、ちぢみ生地の織布工場の皆さん。

しぼを出し、晒す 近江 − 滋賀
製織された生地は、高島市内の晒（さらし）工場へ。緯糸（よこいと）の撚りが戻る力を利用して、綿ちぢみの命である「シボ」と呼ばれる布面の凹凸が作られます。江戸時代に誕生し約200年もの歴史を持つちぢみ生地は、通気性や吸汗、速乾性に優れ、爽やかで快適な着心地を生みだします。
Making Shibo & Bleaching − Shiga
After weaving, textiles are delivered to a bleaching factory in Takashima. The uneven surface, called shibo and produced by utilizing the untwisting force of wefts, is the core of cotton chijimi. Chijimi is a breathable, sweat-absorbent, quick-drying, and comfortable textile first made about 200 years ago in Edo Period.
A：専用の型ロールに生地を通し、しぼの凹凸の型を付けていきます。
The material goes through a special forming roll to form the uneven surface called shibo.
B：熱湯に通る際に緯糸の撚りが戻ることで生地幅が狭まり、凹凸と天然のストレッチ性が生まれます。
As the twist of the weft passes through hot water and untwists, the width of the material narrows, creating the irregular pattern and natural stretchability.
C：精錬・晒工程を経て綿花の不純物や糊が取り除かれたオフ白のちぢみ生地になります。
After refining and bleaching, the impurities and starch of the raw cotton are removed to create off-white chijimi.
D：地場で200年の歴史をもつ、ちぢみ生地の伝統を支える晒工場の皆さん。

柄を染める 山城 − 京都
ちぢみ生地になったら、京都に運ばれスクリーンの型捺染機（かたなっせんき）で色柄が付けられます。布面に凹凸を持つ生地のため、型捺染を行うには高い技術力が求められます。水洗・乾燥工程を経て、ふんわりとした柔らかさと清涼感のある肌触りを併せ持つオリジナルのテキスタイルが出来上がります。
Printing Patterns − Kyoto
Then, patterns are printed on a chijimi textile with a pattern printing machine in Kyoto. Since the textile has an uneven surface, sophisticated skills are required to print patterns. After water washing and drying, the delicately soft, fresh, original textile is complete.
A：デザイン通りの生地を上げる為に型の順番に色を並べ入念に色の確認を行っています。
Colors are lined up in order of the patterns and scrupulously checked to ensure the design comes out correctly.
B：しぼの重なりや捺染の型ズレが無いか入念なチェックを行いながら捺染を行います。
Printing is carried out with painstaking checks to ensure the patterns are printed in the proper position and shibos do not overlap with each other.

生地を裁ち、縫う 豊後 − 大分
色柄が付いた生地は大分県国東半島の自社工場に運ばれ、裁断と縫製を行います。創業以来、約80年に渡り肌着を作り続けてきた長い歴史の中で、現場の職人とミシン技術者が改良を重ねたオリジナルのミシンを使用しています。単に生産性だけを追い求めるのではなく、着心地と品位を最も大切にしています。
Cutting & Sewing − Oita
Patterned textiles are cut and sewn in our factory in Kunisaki Peninsula, Oita, using original sewing machines that have been continuously improved on by on-site craftspeople and sewing machine technicians since our establishment about 80 years ago. We put great value on wearing comfort and quality as well as productivity.
A：生地のゆがみやしわを抑えてから生地を裁断していきます。
Cutting the material while avoiding bends or wrinkles.
B：肌当たりの良さと強度を考えて改良を重ねたミシンで丁寧に縫い上げていきます。
Sewing with attention to every detail on machines that have been constantly improved for excellence of touch and strength.
C：縫い上がった製品を一枚一枚 アイロンがけと畳みをしてパッケージに入れていきます。
The sewn products are individually ironed, folded and placed in packages.
D：自社工場のみんなが心を込めて着心地の良いステテコをつくっています。
